Before ordering aggregate, confirm the material specification with the person responsible for the project. Road base, drainage stone and decorative gravel serve different purposes. Send the supplier or quarry, product name and requested quantity rather than relying only on a photo. If your estimate is in cubic yards but the supplier sells by weight, ask the supplier to confirm the conversion for that material.
Prepare for each delivery
Choose an unloading area that the site contact has approved for truck access. Explain gate widths, overhead obstructions, soft ground and any limits on turning or backing. For phased work, identify how much material the crew can receive and spread at a time. A delivery plan should leave room for other site traffic and the next stage of construction.
